Pejman
Salimpour, M.D. — President, CEO
Distinguished pediatrician Pejman Salimpour, M.D. is the
president and CEO of NexCare Collaborative, the not-for-profit organization
that created and operated First 5 LA Connect and created the U.S.
National Library of Medicine’s MedlinePlus Go Local Program
in California (operated by NexCare Collaborative).. The former is
the highly-lauded, comprehensive helpline and Web site that serves
the information and referral needs of expectant parents and parents
of children throughout Los Angeles County. Dr. Salimpour most recently
served as Clinical Chief of Pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
and currently is Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at UCLA
School of Medicine. Dr. Salimpour, who serves on the boards of a
number of health care organizations (including the American Academy
of Pediatrics) and hospitals, is a long-time local and national
advocate of patient rights. He earned his medical degree from the
Washington University School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate
degree at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Pedram
Salimpour, M.D. — Senior Vice President
Pedram Salimpour, M.D., M.P.H., is the innovative co-founder
and Senior Vice President of NexCare Collaborative. A much-published
writer and distinguished researcher, Dr. Salimpour is the only person
to have ever twice received the American College of Physicians’
Research Award. He graduated from Boston University School of Medicine
and earned his Masters in Public Health Degree from the University
of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). A practicing pediatrician,
Dr. Salimpour is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics,
the American Urological Association, the American Medical Association
and numerous other national medical / clinical organizations. He
most recently co-authored major grant awards from the National Institutes
of Health-National Library of Medicine and the Unihealth Foundation
on behalf of NexCare Collaborative.
Ben
Kostecki — Information Systems Strategies
With more than 20 years of experience in design
and implementation of multi-layered information systems for business
organizations of all sizes, Ben Kostecki developed the technological
infrastructure of NexCare Collaborative’s powerful and innovative
Information Technology systems. As both a manager and/or consultant,
he previously has provided services to such organizations as: Amgen,
Novartis, HCA, Microsoft, British Airways, Bank of America, CitiBank,
GTE, Delta Airlines and others.
Vance
Luc
— Network
Administration
The scope of Information Technology professional Vance Luc’s
responsibilities within NexCare Collaborative include the creation
and facilitation of all integrated networking systems, encompassing
both hardware and software. He is responsible for the strategic
implementation of new and developing technologies, management of
the organizations’ expansive database operations and network/workstation
environments. Prior to NexCare, Mr. Luc was a Senior Systems Administrator
at Intel Corporation, leading a team in the company’s Network
Software Division. He has served as an IT consultant for such companies
as Dell Computer and City National Bank.
Pete
Senoff — Marketing, Public Relations & Business Development
A 20-year veteran of the health
care industry, Pete Senoff has extensive experience and skills in
strategic and hands-on marketing and business development applications.
His professional background includes having served as Director of
Marketing and Communications for CIGNA HealthCare of California,
Manager of Marketing and Public Relations for Little Company of
Mary and San Pedro Peninsula Hospitals and as a public relations
and project management consultant for a dozen different Tenet hospitals
in Southern California. He also has served as the Director of Marketing
for the International Association of Business Communicators of Southern
California and the Chair of Member Communications for the Healthcare
Public Relations and Marketing Association.
John
Duran — Call
Center & HR Management
John Duran’s professional
experience includes more than 20 years of Call Center and Human
Resources management. He is responsible for all aspects of NexCare
Collaborative’s Call Center operations and Human Resources
division. Prior to NexCare, he served as Call Center Operations
Manager at AT&T Broadband and Call Center & Human Resources
Manager at Pacific Bell. His Call Center responsibilities at NexCare
include such areas as training, development, database and bilingual
cultural integration and CRM systems facilitation.
Ralph
Feldman — Finance
With more than 40 years of professional
financial background, Ralph Feldman serves as Director of Finance
for NexCare Collaborative and is a member of the organization’s
Board of Directors. Trained as a Certified Public Accountant, he
has held a variety of positions for companies throughout Southern
California, including: Belinkoff, Feldman & Company CPAs (partner);
Jet Air Freight (treasurer and Board Member); Norco Industries (secretary-treasurer
and Board Member); Ezralow & Co CPAs (partner) and Stadco (secretary-treasurer
and Board Member).
Jilda
Castaldo — Project
Management & Quality Assurance
A highly-experienced specialist
in the implementation and enhancement of business processes and
technology integration, Jilda Castaldo manages all aspects of NexCare
Collaborative’s operations and quality assurance divisions.
Her responsibilities include training and training development;
internal quality assurance monitoring and verification processing
of I&R Specialists; integration of AIRS-required information
into all protocols, procedures, and training modules; and linkage
with all internal and external evaluation agencies. Her background
prior to NexCare included service as Director of Administration
& Project Implementation at Synapse Services and Director of
Operations, Quality and Training at Aegis Communications Group.
Jose
Alvarez — Telecommunications
All telecommunications network and
systems responsibilities at NexCare Collaborative are guided by
Jose Alvarez, including strategic configuration and facilitation
of the PBX, ACD back-up, integration of new systems into Local Area
Networks and configuration of network active directories and servers.
Prior to NexCare, Mr. Alvarez was actively involved in Charter Communications’
cable division high speed data network and was Call Center Technical
Analyst Supervisor for AT&T Broadband for more than five years.
Joanna
A. Lyman, M.A. — Social Services Programs
As Family Resource Manager of NexCare Collaborative,
Joanna Lyman’s key roles are accurately assessing caller needs,
prioritizing interventions, and client follow-up. Her responsibilities
include providing short-term counseling, offering client advocacy,
creating social/emotional service plans for multi-ethnic clients,
building strong collaborative relationships with social service
organizations and organizing specialized training programs for NexCare’s
professional staff (nurses and nurse practitioners). She earned
a Masters Degree in Psychology, with an emphasis on the delivery
of psychological services in a healthcare setting.
Kenneth
Mitchell, M.H.A. — Community Relations
A highly-experienced specialist in community outreach,
Kenneth Mitchell has been involved in multiple levels of community
relations on behalf of NexCare Collaborative, including both grass
roots and corporate/organizational interface. Mr. Mitchell has established
and secured ongoing collaborative relationships with a myriad of
medical, healthcare and social service organizations and agencies
in Southern California in the pursuit of assisting vulnerable populations
with access to needed services (health insurance, food, shelter,
etc). He holds a Masters Degree in Health Administration from the
University of Southern California.
Lourdes
Artega, R.N., P.N.P. — Nursing & Health Promotion
Lourdes Artega’s medical
and health care background and abilities are instrumental in NexCare
Collaborative’s telephonic interface. She leads a group of
highly-skilled nurses and nurse practitioners that comprise NexCare’s
Professional Health Advisors (PHA) team, helping clients with all
aspects of their health care needs via seamless web and-or telephone
interface. An experienced Pediatric and Emergency Room and NICU
(Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) nurse, she also is certified as a
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) and is affiliated with the National
Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
